Syzygium anisatum~Anise myrtle, Anisata or Ringwood Anise myrtle leaves have a sweet herbal anise or liquorice flavour. It is a great flavouring in desserts and biscuits and is often used with fish, pork, vegetables, glazes, marinades and dressings. Can also be used as a tea. Aniseed myrtle is also great to help balance flavours by adding a little touch of sweetness. In the wild, the trees are found in the sub-tropical rainforests of northern New South Wales. Traditionally Aboriginal people used it medicinally as a tonic. With antioxidant, anti-fungal and antimicrobial properties, Aniseed Myrtle is also a good source of vitamin E, vitamin C, magnesium, lutein and folate.
